To a certain extent, it already seems like we are living in the future. The digital revolution, which has already brought about significant changes in our lives, is only getting started.
The bicycle hasn’t seen many significant changes in the last century; after all, the old adage goes. However, if the designs that are presented here are any indicator, the bicycle of the future will be nearly as revolutionary as the mobile phone.
The Furious Sports Bike Concept that was created by Nenad Kostadinov does away with the top stay and the down tube, yet it nevertheless seems to be durable and stable enough to handle hard terrain. The onboard computer is what gives this design its one-of-a-kind quality and gives it a fully future feel. The computer shows a variety of facts regarding the trip, such as the speed, position, and calorie consumption. The information is presented in a prominent location during the journey to ensure that the rider is never in the dark about where they are or how much pizza they are allowed to eat that evening without feeling guilty.
The Intelligent Bike Concept, which was developed by Chris Boardman, is perhaps the best representation of the kinds of advancements that will be included into bikes in the foreseeable future. The British Olympic gold medalist and Tour de France stage winner has created a bicycle that has an onboard computer, a fingerprint security scanner, wheels without spokes, and a solar-powered back-up engine.
My particular favorite is the Eco 07 Bike Concept built by Victor Aleman. It can be entirely dismantled and stored in a container that is about the size of a briefcase, which makes it very portable. It also has a nice appearance. Unfortunately, the present design is not intended to be disassembled on a daily basis; rather, you should only do it when it will be inactive for an extended period of time. However, that problem will undoubtedly be solved by someone. Because, if you really give it some thought, you’ll be able to ride your bike to work, to a restaurant, or even back to your house, then disassemble it, pack it up in a specially designed backpack, and carry it with you everywhere you go. No more fighting with the bike to get it into an elevator, no more hauling it up the stairs, and no more parking issues. And if you’re doing some real mountain biking and you get to an area that’s impenetrable, you won’t have to worry about carrying the bike up or down a difficult hill anymore.
The Mando Footloose is a chainless, foldable urban bike that utilizes high-tech solutions borrowed from the automotive sector to make riding in the city both safe and efficient. Pedaling forward on this little bicycle produces usable power. After that, the energy is stored in a lithium battery, and the battery is used to power a tiny motor. The bicycle is so advanced that it can sense inclines on its own and change gears accordingly.
The Cube Urban Street Bike Concept replaces the typical frame’s seat tube and upper portions with a three-piece structure that only uses the axle to connect the rear wheel to the bike. This design eliminates the need for a seat post. Because of it, this model is much lighter, and as a result, it is substantially quicker than what we are riding right now. Additionally, it looks far more enticing. On uneven ground, such cobblestones, there may be a problem with the vehicle’s stability and longevity, particularly with regard to the “floating” back wheel.
